What is Maritime Transportation?
Maritime transportation is one of the mode of transportation which transport people or cargoes by sea through domestic (inland and coastal) use of boats and ferries or ocean transportation for commercial purposes.
It can also be for recreation purpose or military purposes.

Importance of Maritime Transportation

  1. It is safe 
  2. It helps in the transportation of cargoes and people
  3. It generates revenue for the economy 
  4. It provides employment and job opportunities
  5. It create unity between neighborhood countries and tribes
  6. Institutional development
  7. Defence and security

MAJOR PORT SUBSYSTEM

We discussed recently about port. Today we shall discuss the major port sub system These subsystem are what works together to make a port carry our its activities effectively and efficiently. MAJOR NAVIGATIONAL PORT SUBSYSTEM We have, Navigational Aid Subsystem:  These are equipments that enables safe arrival and exit of vessels from the port. They are placed along coasts to mark safe and danger zone and enables Mariners in determining their position. It makes Mariners to be aware of dangers both on land and on sea. They include lighthouse,buoys,tug boat etc.                      Quay Handling and Transfer subsystem:  These is one of the major subsystem.
